Artist Statement

I’m an interdisciplinary artist with a penchant for scavenging. My projects often begin with the act of discovery: locating culturally significant objects (computer monitors/mice/usb’s), photographing, collecting and carving them in stone.  In this way, my practice connects the local (discarded digital devices left curbside by the citizens of Toronto) to the global (the growing accumulation of technological waste world-wide).  As a result, my work invites viewers to question their relationship to objects and explore the tensions between the monumental and the hand held, the disposable and the permanent, and the interactive and the inert.
